Matt Gerald is an American actor and screenwriter, known for his roles in numerous films and television projects. He currently portrays Melvin Potter in the Marvel Netflix series Daredevil, as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Gerald was born in Miami, Florida, USA. A graduate of The University of Pennsylvania, Gerald is best known for his role as Corporal Lyle Wainfleet[1] in James Cameron's sci-fi thriller Avatar as well as his terrifying arc on Showtime's Dexter as elusive predator, Ray Speltzer.
Gerald's recent film credits include Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, G.I. Joe: Retaliationwith Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis, Red Dawn with Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, Freelancers with Robert De Niro and Forest Whitaker, The Frozen Ground with Nicolas Cage and John Cusack, and the 2015 films San Andreas, with Dwayne Johnson and Carla Gugino, and Solace, with Colin Farrell and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
